Yemen’s Houthi rebels are vowing to sink more British ships, labelling the United Kingdom a “rogue state”.
Last week, the rebel group sank the Rubymar cargo vessel in the Red Sea, threatening a major environmental disaster.
Crews were rescued from the cargo vessel, with the ship drifting and taking on water after being attacked.
In a statement, they said: “Yemen will continue to sink more British ships, and any repercussions or other damages will be added to Britain’s bill, as it is a rogue state that attacks Yemen and partners with America in sponsoring the ongoing crime against civilians in Gaza.”
For months, the Iranian-backed group have been targeting commercial shipping in what they say is a campaign against Israel’s offensive in Gaza.
