China, Russia and Iran start joint naval drills near Gulf of Oman, fourth drill since 2019 [Video]

China, Russia and Iran have started a joint naval exercise near the Gulf of Oman on Tuesday.

The drill, named Security Bond-2024, is beneficial to strengthening ties and cooperation between the naval forces of the three countries, the Ministry of Defense said.

China dispatched three vessels to the military exercise, including the guided-missile destroyer Urumqi, the guided-missile frigate Linyi, and the comprehensive replenishment vessel Dongpinghu.

The five-day naval drills focused on anti-piracy and search and rescue.

This is the fourth drill since 2019 between the three countries.
