Driver intentionally plows into couple, killing the wife, police say [Video]

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT/Gray News)— A driver is charged with second-degree murder after he hit a couple taking an evening stroll Monday, killing the wife.

“My wife was a beautiful soul, always had a pretty smile on her face, a genuine laugh, she had a love for God and family,” Derek Bizzell said.

Derek Bizzell said it was the first time his wife, 42-year-old Shaunda Bizzell, joined him on his evening walk. As the couple started their second loop around the neighborhood, they saw a car veer from the middle of the street toward them.

“We walked around the curb. We could see a car coming up the middle of the street like cars always do, and then he got closer to us,” Derek Bizzell said. “I could see him veer. I screamed her name, and all I heard was the thump.”
