Tri-State Jewish leaders concerned about violence during Passover [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Tri-State Jewish leaders and the FBI have expressed concern about violence during Passover, which is occurring this year several months after the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel and the country’s military action in Gaza.

The holiday begins Monday at sundown.

Last week, FBI Director Christopher Wray warned of possible lone actors targeting large gatherings, high-profile events or religious locations.

According to the Anti-Defamation League, crimes against Jews have increased 140 percent.

“Many Jews don’t celebrate a lot of holidays, but most Jews certainly celebrate Passover,” Danielle Minson, CEO of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati said. “This year, especially, resonates very deeply because Passover is about freedom. This year more than ever with Oct. 7 and the conflict. (It) makes security even more concerning.”

The Amberly Village Police Department will have extra patrols around the Mayerson Jewish Community Center this week.
