Antisemitism is up in KC, and looks different than it did in the past [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City has seen a growth in antisemitism, and it began on Saturday, Oct. 7, when Hamas attacked Israeli citizens.

The Jewish Community Relations Bureau collects these local accounts, and works with the institution that the act happened in.

Gavirela Geller is the executive director at the bureau. She said most of the antisemitism in Kansas City occurs in high schools or on college campuses, but they have taken accounts even from second graders.

“It’s certainly at the worst that we’ve ever seen, since we started tracking data in the 70s,” Geller said. “I do unfortunately anticipate that it is going to continue getting worse.”

One of the more recent accounts that the JCRB has heard came from a college campus in Kansas City, and it is a good example of how antisemitism can occur nowadays.
