While NBA free agency has been relatively tame since the 6 p.m. Sunday start, there were finally some fireworks deep into the night. Former Clippers wing Paul George is, as rumored, signing with the 76ers to a huge four-year contract, which was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski in the middle of the night.
Plenty of rumors swirled around George’s status, including his Clippers future, a potential trade to the Warriors or elsewhere. But instead, the Sixers took a massive swing by landing the wing to pair with All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey and former MVP Joel Embiid. Philadelphia has tried out different running mates with Embiid, and now, it’ll hope the 34-year-old George is the one who takes them to the top.
