Community members gather at Wichita State to call for peace in Middle East [Video]

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – Friday afternoon about forty people gathered outside the Rhattigan Student Center at Wichita State University to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. This is after countless protests across the country have done the same, saying they’ve had enough.

“This is psychological torture. You know I cry every day like a baby,” said one protester Karim Jabril.

He says these last six months have been especially hard. His dad was born in Palestine so he has a strong connection. He said it hurts seeing one of the countries he loves so dearly hurting.

“You know you pout but what can you do? You can’t do nothing other than what we’re doing now,” he said.

He wanted to at least try to do something.

The war on Gaza started six months ago when Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel. Students have been protesting at universities all across the country, hoping for peace.
