Road closures were reported in towns including Simsbury, Canton, Lebanon and Hebron.

CONNECTICUT, USA — Downed power lines and trees brought closed roads in Connecticut Sunday afternoon as severe weather swept through the state.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for the state until 7 p.m. 2,026 outages in the state were reported by Eversource as of 7 p.m.

Road closures were reported in Simsbury, Canton, Lebanon and Hebron. Click on each town for up-to-date information on the closure listings.

The Simsbury Police Department advised residents to use caution and to avoid driving around barriers or touching wires. Any hazardous areas in town that have not been addressed by officials can be reported to the police department at 860-658-3100.

According to the town of Canton, their Department of Public Works and Eversource is working to clear debris and to restore power. People were to avoid any “unnecessary travel” and to “treat all down wires …
