Ian Bremmer Calls Out CNN for Incorrect Hamas Chyron [Video]

CNN guest Ian Bremmer — a prominent foreign policy expert — called out the network for running a chyron which referred to the Israeli Defense Force operation which rescued four hostages in Gaza as a “hostage release.”

On Saturday, an Israeli operation rescued four hostages after weeks of planning. Gaza officials claim more than 270 Palestinians were killed during the operation, although the IDF claims there were less than 100 casualties. Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv were rescued more than eight months after they were kidnapped on Oct. 7, 2023.

The CNN chyron noted that the centrist member of Israel war cabinet, Benny Gantz, had delayed announcing his expected resignation following the operation. However, CNN used the phrase, “Gantz postpones news conference after hostage release” — which suggested Hamas had voluntarily released the hostages
