BFRS reacting to persons of interest identified in shooting case [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – We’re getting new reaction to police identifying persons of interest in the shooting that killed Birmingham firefighter Jordan Melton and seriously injured his fellow firefighter Jamal Jones.

BFRS Lt. Catina Williams said Jones is still not back at work and continues to recover. He’s had several surgeries since the summer and Lt. Williams thinks more could be to come.

Melton would have turned 30 Wednesday. His mother, Rochelle Malone, says the last seven months have been anything but easy.

“Challenging,” she said. “I am trying to learn how to navigate life with the understanding and knowing that I will never, ever see him again.”

This tragedy also affected members of the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service and those who worked at fire station nine. July 12, 2023 is a day that changed BFRS forever.
