Sirine Malas, who separated from her mother when she fled Syria to Germany in 2015, sought closure after her mother passed from kidney failure in 2018, especially since her mother never met her newborn daughter, Ischtar.
Sirine turned to an AI tool called Project December, designed to simulate conversations with departed loved ones. The platform prompts users to input details about the deceased, generating a simulated profile for conversational interactions at $10 per hour.
