Yemen’s Houthi rebels have assured Russia and China that their ships can safely travel through the Red Sea, according to a report by Bloomberg. The Bloomberg report cited people familiar with the discussions between the three parties. The Houthis had already signalled they were only targeting ships linked to Israel and its Western allies the US and UK after they launched waves of strikes on Yemen. However, Bloomberg reports that Russia and China may have been seeking a more concrete deal after the Houthis reportedly misidentified the ships they targeted. Negotiations between Chinese and Russian diplomats and the Houthi representatives reportedly took place in the Sultanate of Oman, Bloomberg reported.
The Yemeni rebels have declared that they would stop attacking vessels in the crucial waterway if Israel stops attacking Gaza and lets humanitarian aid enter the besieged enclave where a famine looms
