In full: PM addresses Iran’s Israel attack and MPs debate Cass review on trans children’s treatment

Victoria Atkins, the Health Secretary, delivered a statement in the Commons responding to the Cass Review into gender identity services for children and young people.

The Health Secretary urged medical regulators to crack down on doctors who believe that “their ideology trumps” the evidence of the Cass review.

The report by paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass, published last week, made 32 recommendations regarding support and treatment offered to children who believe they are transgender.

Victoria Atkins told the Commons that she “wholly and fully” expects regulators to crack down on medical professionals “operating under the misguided apprehension that their ideology trumps this evidence.”
