A man who had allegedly threatened to blow himself up at Iran‘s consulate in Paris has been arrested by police, Reuters news agency is reporting – just hours after Israel launched a retaliatory attack against Iran.

Armed police were called to the consulate after a witness reported seeing a man outside carrying a grenade and an explosives vest on Friday at around 11am. Images on French television and social media showed police surrounding the building.

It comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East with Israel launching an attack on Iran overnight.
