US authorities have charged Takeshi Ebisawa, the leader of Japan’s Yakuza crime syndicate, with trafficking nuclear materials from Myanmar. He allegedly expected that Iran would use the material to make nuclear weapons. Ebisawa is being held in a federal jail after being charged in 2022.
