Joplin Police Department hosts Bicycle Safety Fair [Video]

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Police Department is putting their focus into bicycle safety.

The department kicked off their Bicycle Safety Fair today in the parking lot of East Middle School.

Summer is quickly approaching, and JPD officers say since more children and families will be out riding around, it’s important for motorists to pay extra attention.

Those who attended today got a better idea about the mechanics and maintenance of a bike.

Bicycle inspections were also available. Plus, JPD created a course that showed riders how to practice safe cycling techniques.

Seven-year-old Grayson Cook was among the riders out today and he tells us this is great practice for him.

“So I’m just like riding my bike every day when I get off the bus. It’s like really, really fun riding my bike,” said Grayson Cook.
