TAOISEACH Leo Varadkar has defended the annual shamrock ceremony at the White House despite criticism that it should be cancelled due to the US position on the war in the Middle East.
The Taoiseach has spent the week in the US calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East and again made the call in the White House tonight.
While President Joe Biden has agreed with the Taoiseach’s call for a ceasefire, he said that the US will continue to send weapons to Israel who are using them to kill thousands of people in Gaza.
The Taoiseach defended the annual shamrock ceremony and denied that it was simply a party.
