The New Zealand Defence Force is unsure if it will be able to participate in the Anzac Day dawn service at Gallipoli, after losing luggage on the trip to Turkey.

It would be the first time New Zealand has not had a ceremonial presence at the Gallipoli service, Newshub is reporting.

The NZ Defence Force contingent lost their bags in transit during the chaos of the Dubai floods last week.

All the uniforms and the band’s instruments were missing, meaning out of respect and protocol they would not be able to take part in the dawn ceremony alongside Australia and Turkey, Newshub said.

Dubai International Airport had found 35 of the 65 missing bags, and the NZ Defence Force said it had received the first of those bags.
