IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – A planned 3-day pro-Palestine protest is underway at the University of Iowa Campus.
A few dozen people gathered Friday afternoon for the first of three days of protest at the Pentacrest on the Iowa City campus. The organization behind the protest, Students for Justice in Palestine, said its goal is to call for the University of Iowa to end partnerships with businesses that profit from the war between Israel and Hammas and to create a safe space for people to ask questions and learn about the conflict and culture of Palestine.
The group said it plans a schedule of speakers, music and events from noon until 7:00 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday that will include presentations from members of Iowa for Palestine as well as Jewish Voice for Peace.
