KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Demonstrations on the University of Tennessee campus protesting the war between Israel and Hamas in Palestine entered day four on Saturday.
Despite the rain preventing many from protesting Saturday morning, dozens were on hand by the afternoon.
This comes after demonstrations started Wednesday, with students gathering on campus to hold a vigil for those killed during the conflict in the Middle East. The situation escalated over the day, with counter-protesters arriving on campus and both groups marching in and around university property before disbanding.
“We want a ceasefire; we just want guns down,” a protestor said. “We want children to live. We want women and children to live, families to survive. There’s beautiful people out here, there’s beautiful people in Gaza.”
