Saudi-China Bonhomie Rattles U.S.; Banned Chinese Surveillance Firm Invests In Riyadh | Details

Saudi Arabia and China’s new business partnership has rattled the U.S. Saudi Arabia’s new firm, Alat, announced a string of new deals which include one with Softbank Corp. and a Chinese surveillance equipment maker. Dahua Technology is investing in a venture to make products for use in surveillance in Riyadh. Alat & Dahua will invest $200 million in the business, majorly owned by the Saudi firm. Dahua Technology among firms banned from selling electronics in the U.S. by regulators. It is a part of the kingdom’s efforts to transform itself into an industrial powerhouse.
