ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – More than 100 students walked onto the sidewalk in front of the Atlanta campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Wednesday, joining a chorus of college students across the country standing with Palestinians and against Israel over the war in the Middle East.
A similar scene played out simultaneously on the campus of Kennesaw State University (KSU) in Cobb County.
“As a documentary photography student, I’ve been going to protests for ‘Stop Cop City,’ and I’ve been wanting to go to a Free Palestine one,” said Rebecca Spoor, a SCAD student from Douglasville. “The more protests schools have, maybe something will actually change.”
The SCAD and KSU students are the latest to protest publicly over Israel’s response to the Oct. 7, 2023 surprise attacks in which Hamas fighters killed more than 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped more than 240 others.
