Welcome to one of the most impressive waterpark in the whole world. This is Meryal Waterpark in the Kingdom of Qatar. It is brand new and we are confident that you will love it.

First of all, let us say that you should wait a few months before visiting Meryal Waterpark as they are still running a soft opening with some of the rides not opened yet. This includes most of their star attractions like the train going around the park, their roller coaster, a dark ride and a few other waterslides. The Qetaifan Island where this amusement park is located is also in its early stage but will eventually be a destination of its own with luxury hotels, dinning, shopping and more.

With that being said, even at this stage, Meryal Waterpark is very impressive. The highlight is the now world famous Icon tower which houses many different waterslides including a water coaster and the world’s tallest waterslides.

The overall theming, might be a bit weird for some as most of the world is slowly going away from fossil fuel but remember how important this industry has been for the development of Qatar. We truly enjoyed the depth of the overall theming and thought it was really well done. For the theme park goers, Meryal’s theming is at a Disney or Universal Studios level.

And yes, this amazing day was during a simple layover in Qatar. This country makes it so easy to do exciting activities outside of the airport during longer layover to a point where we started to plan long layovers just to have some extra fun!
