Taiwan is set to receive 50 air-to-ground missiles from the United States by 2028. The missiles to Taiwan aim at enhancing the combat capabilities of its F-16V fighter jets and deterring potential attacks from across the strait. This marks the first weapons supply contract announced by the Pentagon since the election of Taiwan’s independence-leaning William Lai Ching-te. The delivery of these missiles underscores the ongoing tensions between Taiwan and Beijing, with China viewing Taiwan as part of its territory. The US also approved a $150 million Foreign Military Sale to the Netherlands. The Defence Security Cooperation Agency has greenlit the acquisition of 386 Hellfire missiles, AGM-114R2, along with related equipment. This comes as over 20 Russian defence contractors are showcasing a wide array of weaponry and military equipment at World Defence Show arms expo in Saudi Arabia.
